#SUPER MARIO 3D LAND GAMES HOW TO#
It was intimidating for me at first, because I crack under pressure! Then you relax and it becomes easier as you learn how to deal with Bowser. This game will really have you on edge at the beginning.

It's only available for local multiplayer, but I wouldn't recommend playing that way unless the second person is fine with only doing really simple, boring tasks to support Mario - it's a lot like the multiplayer in Mario Odyssey (which I also didn't like, for the same reason). One person plays as Mario and the other person supports them as Bowser Jr. Unlike Super Mario 3D World, Bowser's Fury is only for 1-2 players. It sometimes felt like getting the camera in the right position to see Bowser's attacks was a bigger battle than the actual fighting. One big problem with the game is the camera angles in those boss fights.

Join The Game Remastered 'Tony Hawk' Games Land A High-Scoring Trick The levels with Captain Toad that appear in every world are the most fun - you venture through an obstacle course filled with collectable stars, but without the ability to jump, so you need to strategize. While level progression is linear, you can still wander around the world map to find secret levels and minigames that help Mario on his mission.

You are dropped at the beginning of a linear world map and unlock new levels as you beat each challenge, eventually making it to World 8 to defeat Bowser and free the Sprixies, fairy-like creatures he rudely kidnapped and put into jars. SM3DW has the same concept as past Super Mario games. Hours went by in minutes, and suddenly it was 3am and I was falling asleep with my Switch on top of me. It sucked me in so completely that I couldn't tear myself away. I had never played Super Mario 3D World before last Friday, and now it's one of my favorite Mario games - worth it even without Bowser's Fury tacked on.

Nintendo gave us a code for this review.I had never played 'Super Mario 3D World' before last Friday, and now it's one of my favorite Mario games - worth it even without 'Bowser's Fury' tacked on. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury comes out on February 12 for the Nintendo Switch. This is one of the best Mario games ever made. It contains makes the Wii U game feel better than you remember, and the bonus campaign makes the package one of the best ports Nintendo has brought to the Switch. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is just as good as any of them.

You can play a lot of 3D Mario games on your Switch. It offers just as much platforming fun as 3D World, but it also throws in a bit more of that exploration element. Unless you were somehow expecting a full-length game from Bowser’s Fury, you’re going to be happy with it. You can also get a second player to take control of Bowser’s offspring, which is a great way to get a friend (or a sibling) involved in your adventure. If you’re playing by yourself, he’ll help take out some enemies and find some powerups. The giant area that you can explore feels like a Super Mario Odyssey level on steroids. You need these to help you take down Fury Bowser, a gigantic version of the classic Mario foe that will occasionally come to life and attack you.Įven though Bowser’s Fury takes a lot of the assets and tech from 3D World, it feels like its own experience. Here, you’re exploring a lake dotted with islands, each one housing multiple Cat Shines you can collect. A whole new worldĪnd then you have Bowser’s Fury, which uses the same mechanics, enemies, and power-ups as 3D World, but puts it all into a big open world experience. It’s something you may not notice unless you see side-by-side videos, but I suspect this is one of the reasons I enjoyed 3D World so much more on my Switch than I did on the Wii U. Everyone moves faster, which helps the game feel smooth and exciting. That’s because Nintendo has given each character a bit of a speed boost. I’ve always found this kind of multiplayer platforming a bit too hectic and prefer to play these kinds of games alone, but I can’t deny that it can be fun to play some 3D Mario with friends (in short bursts, anyways).Īlthough this is a port a Wii U game, the Switch release just plays better. You can even have four players run through the game together through couch or online co-op. You also get to play through the game as one of multiple characters: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, and (after you unlock her) Rosalina. The cat suit is the best of them, as it lets you climb up walls and navigate levels in ways you just couldn’t without it. And 3D World also features a great lineup of powerups. The variety and creativity is astounding.
